About
DEEPEX 2023 SHORING DESIGN & TUNNELING SOFTWARE
DeepEX is a great, user-friendly, robust software program for shoring design and analysis. DeepEX is an upgrade to our DeepEX 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, and DeepXcav 2012 versions.
MULTIPLE ANALYSIS METHODS
DeepEX can analyze any deep excavation model with different implemented methods: Limit Equilibrium, Non-Linear Analysis wirh soil springs and Finite Elements.
Finite Element Analysis can be performed with the additional, oprional Finite Element Analysis engine DeepFEM, which can be added in any DeepEX package.
Any model can be analyzed with all the following methods:
-
Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM)
-
Non-Lineal Method (NL)
-
Finite Element Method (FEM)
-
Combined Analysis (LEM+NL)
-
Combined Analysis (LEM+FEM)
MULTIPLE WALL TYPES
DeepEX software can design and analyze all common wall types. The software implements extensive steel beams (pipes, H beams, Rectangular sections, channel sections) databases that allow the fast selection of any steel section in the models. The user can fast create different wall sections and check different alternatives in any DeepEX model.
The following wall types can be analyzed with any DeepEX package:
-
Soldier Pile and Lagging Walls
-
Sheet Pile Walls & Box Sheet Piles
-
Timber Piles (Wood)
-
Secant/Tangent Piles
-
Concrete Deaphragms (Slurry Walls)
-
Combined Sheet Pile Walls (King Piles)
-
Soldier Pile and Tremied Concrete (SPTC Walls)
-
Prestressed and GFRP Walls and Piles
MULTIPLE SUPPORT SYSTEMS
DeepEX can perform structural and geotechnical design of many different support systems:
-
Cantilever Excavations (Models without Supports)
-
Excavations with Tiebacks and Helical Anchors
-
Excavations with internal bracing (Struts and Rakers)
-
Cofferdams and Box Excavations
-
Mechanical and Hydraulic Struts and Walers
-

SOIL PROPERTIES - SPT RECORDS - CPT LOGS
In DeepEX we can create an unlimited list of soils and define all soil properties manualy, or with the use of the DeepEX Estimation Tools based on SPT records and soil test results.
The user can define different Stratigraphies (Borings) and analyze all project locations in the same software file. The Custom Layers mode of the program allows the user to generate inclined stratigraphies.
Soil Estimation Reporting and Statistical Analysis
This additional module can be used to estimate soil properties from SPT records with different methods and perform a statistical analysis of estimated soil parameters. This module enables the users to select the desired design values with a high level of certainty.
POWERFUL ADDITIONAL MODULES
DeepEX offers a series of additional optional modules that can be used to expand the software capabilities:
-
Export Drawings to DXF: Export all 2D cut sections, wall section details and more in DXF files that can be opened and edited in any CAD software with a click.
-
Steel-Connections: Evaluate all the waler/waler and strut/waler steel connections on any DeepEX 3D model. The software can check and optimize all weld thicknesses.
-
Export 3D Model Holograms: Generate detailed 3D models with DeepEX. The holograms can be reviewed either on the desktop or with Virtual or Augmented Reality Glasses. The module allows importing the site map directly from Google, as well as the import of 3D buildings back into the design environment.
-
Finite Element Analysis (DeepFEM): Perform Finite Element Analysis within the DeepEX user-friendly environment, considering full soil structure interaction! With DeepFEM you can simulate challenging models, as well as analyze TBM and SEM tunnels with our software.
GRAVITY WALLS - PILE ABUTMENTS - SEA WALLS
DeepEX allows the design of Gravity Retaining Walls, Pile Supported Abutments and Sea Walls with the corresponding additional, optional modules that can be activated inside the software.
-
Gravity Walls module: It allows the design of reinforced concrete gravity walls of any shape (Continuous walls or 3D Piers), calculating the wall sliding, bearing and overturning safety factors.
-
Pile Supported Abutments module: It allows the use of foundation piles at gravity wall sections (creating pile supported abutments) and pile foundations adjacent to the excavation site. The module allows the calculation of the forces on each pile and the lateral and vertical design of the piles (calculation of pile moments, shear and displacements diagrams, as well as, the calculation of the bearing capacity of the piles).
Prerequisites: Gravity wall module -
Sea Walls - Wave Pressures - Overtopping module: It allows the design of sea walls, block/segmental walls with individual shear resistances and densities, quay caisson walls (3D) with infill and more, the calculation of Wave pressures with Sainflou, McConnel, Proverbs, Load combinations for British Standards 6349 Parts 1-2 (Marine Structures-Quay Walls) and more.
Prerequisites: Gravity wall module
EXPORT REPORTS IN PDF AND MS WORD
DeepEX can generate extensive reports for all examined design sections and construction stages. The reports in DeepEX are totally customizable - the end user can always select all the report sections included in the final report.
DeepEX reports can include tables and graphs with all examined model properties and calculated results. We can also choose to include to the report all structural design equations and calculation procedure.
The DeepEX reports can be previewed, exported to PDF or exported to Word format, so they can be further edited by the user.
