Example: Pile Supported Abutment Design in DeepEX
A. Introduction
In this example we will design a pile supported abutment with the tools of DeepEX software. In order to analyze a pile abutment, the additional, optional Gravity Walls and Pile Supported Abutments modules are required.
DeepEX can design any abutment shape type, calculating the moments, shears, soil and water pressures, as well as, the sliding and overturning safety factors. We can easily select any of the available retaining wall types and define the section dimensions, as well as, the wall reinforcement.
In DeepEX, we can generate easily the piles layout, by adding new piles in the abutment, defining the pile locations and inclination, as well as, the structural sections.
The Foundation piles can be of any type (helical or non-helical piles - driven, drilled, caissons, micropiles, CFA piles etc.) and structural section (circular, rectangular, hollow, timber piles (wood), reinforced concrete piles, steel beams and more). The pile properties can be defined in user-friendly dialogs.
The model will be generated in DeepEX, and it will be analyzed with the classical Limit Equilibrium Analysis method.
